Country Sports Club
In 2016 the customer, a large oil and gas company, decided to build a sports complex with an ice rink in the Leningrad region, to be used by employees of the company and residents of nearby areas. Unlike other facilities, this complex will be visited by top management and the head of the company himself, an avid hockey fan.
We were inspired by athleisure, a term from the fashion world made up of the words “athletic” and “leisure”. The interior has nothing specifically Japanese, but it is full of understated elegance, reminiscent of the Aman Hotel in Tokyo. The variety of textures – glossy ceiling reflecting the landscape behind the panoramic windows, uneven handmade tiles in the spa, rough leather sofas – is balanced by a calm color scheme and expressive geometry. The second and third floors are connected by a column of several layers of graphite glass, an object that both reflects and absorbs light.
